Brindisi approves new industrial waste management guidelines
The Brindisi City Council has approved guidelines for an industrial waste management plan. This plan will serve as the foundation for a ten-year tender regarding waste collection and disposal in the city.
The initiative aims to align Brindisi with European, national, and regional objectives, specifically targeting a minimum waste separation rate of 65% and a significant reduction in landfill use. The new strategy moves away from a uniform “door-to-door” model, which officials noted no longer suits the city's diverse urban characteristics. Instead, the new approach will be tailored to specific territorial needs based on population density, building types, road networks, and urban functions to increase service efficiency.
