Brindisi to dedicate public square to writer Pino Indini
The city of Brindisi will inaugurate a public square dedicated to the writer and poet Pino Indini at the Sciabiche area on Saturday, October 3, at 7:30 p.m. The event, organized by the Municipality of Brindisi, marks twenty years since the author's passing.
The ceremony will feature a retrospective of Indini’s life and work through films, photographs, letters, and poetry. The location, Sciabiche, was chosen for its connection to the maritime and popular themes central to his writing, including his famous character Coco Lafungia.
Indini (1938–2006) was a prolific author of twenty-three works spanning poetry, narrative, satire, and theater. A former librarian and recipient of the Gold Medal from the Presidency of the Republic, his work frequently explored the streets, dialect, and culture of Brindisi.
