Brisa Hennessy wins EDP Ericeira Pro in Portugal
Costa Rican surfer Brisa Hennessy won the 2026 EDP Ericeira Pro in Portugal, securing a victory that moves her closer to returning to the professional surfing elite. Hennessy staged a late comeback in the final, scoring a 7.50 on her final wave to reach a total of 13.17 points. This win elevates her to fourth place in the women’s Challenger Series rankings, provisionally qualifying her for the 2027 Championship Tour.
In the men’s competition, Japanese surfer Kanoa Igarashi advanced to the quarterfinals after a strong performance at the Ribeira d’Ilhas point break. Igarashi recorded a total score of 14.50, including an 8.33 wave, to secure his spot. The event, which serves as a critical stop for surfers fighting to re-qualify for the top-tier Championship Tour, has seen format changes due to weather delays and low wave counts.
