Brisbane 2032 CEO Cindy Hook to step down in December
Cindy Hook, the chief executive of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games organizing committee, will step down in December when her four-year contract expires. Although she previously expressed interest in staying to oversee the Games, she has decided not to renew her contract, stating that she has successfully established the organization’s foundations, vision, and brand.
Her departure occurs as the committee transitions from initial planning to procurement and event delivery. The leadership change coincides with intensifying scrutiny regarding the Games’ projected costs. Organizing committee president Andrew Liveris previously noted that the original bid budget of approximately A$4.9 billion bore ‘no resemblance to reality,’ prompting a financial reassessment in coordination with the International Olympic Committee.
A global search for Hook’s successor will begin immediately.
