Brisbane 2032 Olympic Committee announces CEO departure
Cindy Hook, the chief executive of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games organising committee, has announced she will step down from her role early next year upon the completion of her four-year contract. The committee will immediately begin a global executive search to find her successor as the organization transitions from initial planning to the operational and project delivery phase.
Separately, National Seniors Australia (NSA) has proposed that post-Games infrastructure, specifically the Brisbane Athletes Village at Bowen Hills, could be repurposed into a ‘Healthy Ageing Precinct’. The proposal aims to address Queensland’s healthcare pressures and delayed hospital discharges by creating a connected network of services for rehabilitation, aged care, and dementia support. This comes as Queensland Health projects the state’s population aged 70 and over will exceed 911,000 by the 2032-33 period.
