Brisbane 2032 unveils cockatoo-inspired Olympic and Paralympic emblems

The Brisbane 2032 Organising Committee has officially unveiled the emblems for the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games. The designs are inspired by native Australian cockatoos: a pink cockatoo represents the Olympic Games, while a sulphur-crested cockatoo represents the Paralympic Games.

The emblems incorporate several layers of symbolism, including a crest that mimics an Olympic flame and a shape that mirrors the coastal outline of Queensland. Subtle design elements also reference the year 2032 and First Nations cultural connections, with cockatoos serving as symbolic messengers.

The official reveal followed an accidental digital leak when the designs appeared prematurely on the Games' official YouTube channel. Despite the administrative error, officials, including Brisbane 2032 chairman Andrew Liveris and Queensland Sport Minister Tim Mander, noted that the public response on social media has been overwhelmingly positive.
