Brisbane Airport announces international expansion and industrial land release

Brisbane International Airport (BNE) has unveiled plans to expand its service to 50 international destinations by the mid-2030s. Supported by the AUD$5 billion FutureBNE infrastructure programme, the expansion aims to strengthen links to Asia and establish new connections to South America, including a link through Santiago. The programme includes over 150 projects, such as a proposed third terminal intended to be operational ahead of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

In a separate development, the airport is launching a 30-hectare industrial land release to address high demand and low vacancy rates in South East Queensland. Backed by more than $400 million in land preparation and construction, the staged release will provide over 150,000 square metres of space for logistics, warehousing, and advanced manufacturing. These sites will offer 24/7 operating capabilities and direct access to major arterial routes like the Gateway Motorway.
