Brisbane City Council reveals $85 million Kedron Brook upgrade plan

The Brisbane City Council has unveiled a draft plan to upgrade Kedron Brook, a waterway running through 14 northern suburbs. The project involves an estimated investment of at least $85 million over the next 20 years.

Proposed improvements include new footpaths, bikeways, lighting, upgraded creek crossings, and sports hubs. The plan also features amenities such as new toilets and drinking fountains, alongside environmental protections and enhanced flood resilience. The council aims to encourage local businesses to engage more closely with the public spaces along the brook.

Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner has invited residents to contribute ideas to the project. Public consultation is currently open and will run until September 6 through online surveys and engagement kiosks located along the waterway.
