Brisbane experiences unseasonably cold and wet weather
Brisbane is experiencing unseasonably cool and wet conditions as a rain band remains over south-east Queensland. The Bureau of Meteorology forecasts temperatures around 20 degrees Celsius for Monday, making it the coldest capital city in Australia. This is approximately 7 degrees cooler than the average October temperature for the region.
Senior meteorologist Dean Narramore attributed the pattern to moist easterly winds combining with a trough through inland Queensland, creating a “traffic jam of weather.” This system is expected to persist into early next week, potentially bringing up to 150 millimetres of rainfall to Brisbane by the end of Sunday. Heavy rainfall has already been recorded in several areas, including 53 millimetres at Eagle Farm and 49 millimetres at Lytton.
