Brisbane ferry services suspended during peak hours due to maritime union strike
CityCat ferry services in Brisbane will not operate between 8 am and 10 am on Friday, 30 July 2026, as members of the Australian Maritime Union conduct a protected strike against River City Ferries, the operator owned by Kelsian Group. The union says 95 % of its members voted against the company’s latest pay and conditions offer, which they claim falls short of the Fair Work Commission’s 4.75 % annual wage review and inflation.
Signs at terminals and a warning on the Translink app advise commuters of the disruption. Services are scheduled to resume progressively after 10 am, with delays expected as the network returns to normal.
