Brisbane Heat veteran Jess Jonassen to miss WBBL 12 season
Brisbane Heat veteran Jess Jonassen will miss the entire Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) 12 season due to a hip injury. The 33-year-old, the club’s most-capped women’s player, is following medical advice to prioritize recovery after a previous season was disrupted by shoulder surgery.
Jonassen, who recently stepped down as captain of both the Brisbane Heat and Queensland Fire, plans to return to training in December with the goal of participating in upcoming Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL) fixtures.
Georgie Redmayne will take over the captaincy for the Brisbane Heat. Redmayne, a wicketkeeper/batter who recently returned to medical practice as a doctor, aims to improve the team's performance following a winless campaign in the previous season.
