Brisbane Lions defender Ty Gallop suspended for three games after on‑field retaliation

Brisbane Lions defender Ty Gallop was handed a three‑game suspension by the AFL tribunal for shoving Port Adelaide forward Mitch Georgiades after Georgiades grabbed Gallop’s broken thumb during a match at the Gabba. Gallop admitted the act was “a very bad look” and apologized to Georgiades, saying the retaliation was an immediate reaction.

Coach Chris Fagan defended Gallop’s character at a press conference, describing the incident as “out of character” and emphasizing respect for the 20‑year‑old player. He said the sanction was “probably on the more severe side of what I thought they could do”, but stressed that Gallop’s overall conduct and contribution to the team remain outstanding.
