Brisbane to host 2027 World Wheelchair Rugby Cup
Brisbane has been selected to host the 2027 World Wheelchair Rugby Cup at Nissan Arena from October 25 to 29, 2027. The tournament will feature eight of the world’s top national teams competing in five days of elite international play.
To maximize global audience engagement and fan crossover, the event is scheduled to run concurrently with the Men’s Rugby World Cup 2027, specifically between the Round of 16 and the quarterfinal fixtures. This alignment follows a model previously utilized during the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France.
The hosting rights were secured through a multi-agency partnership including the Queensland Government, Queensland Academy of Sport, World Rugby, Rugby Australia, Paralympics Australia, the Australian Sports Commission, and Wheelchair Rugby Australia. Organizers aim to attract the largest crowd ever recorded for a standalone wheelchair rugby event outside of the Paralympic Games.
