Bristy Mukherjee, niece of Mamata Banerjee, found dead in West Bengal

Bristy Mukherjee, the 28-year-old niece of Trinamool Congress leader and former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, was found dead at her residence in Kusumba village, Rampurhat, on Tuesday.

Her body was discovered hanging in a second-floor room. Family members stated that Mukherjee had been battling depression for several years and was undergoing treatment. Some reports also indicate she was facing personal stress related to a divorce proceeding.

Mukherjee had previously been involved in the West Bengal school recruitment controversy. Her position as a non-teaching staff member at a government school was cancelled following orders from the Calcutta High Court and the Supreme Court, which nullified thousands of appointments due to alleged irregularities in the recruitment process.

Rampurhat police have launched an investigation and sent the body to a government medical college for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
