Bristol Bears defeat Northampton Saints 41-26
Bristol Bears secured a bonus-point victory against reigning Gallagher Premiership champions Northampton Saints, winning 41-26 at Ashton Gate. Wales winger Louis Rees-Zammit led the performance with two tries and significant defensive contributions, including a 50:22 kick and two try-saving interventions.
Other Bristol try-scorers included Gabriel Oghre, Tom Jordan, and Harry Randall, alongside a penalty try. Northampton’s scoring was led by George Hendy, who scored twice, as well as Alex Mitchell and Josh Kemeny. The Saints finished the match with 13 players following yellow cards issued to Tommy Freeman and Ion Neculai.
The match was marked by a serious injury concern for Bristol centre Benhard Janse van Rensburg, who required prolonged medical treatment and was carried off the field following a midfield collision. He was able to watch the remainder of the match from the sidelines.
