Bristol Bears face injury blow ahead of Northampton Saints clash

Bristol Bears will face Northampton Saints this weekend in a Gallagher Premiership Round 2 fixture, with the Bears dealing with significant injury concerns. England vice-captain Ellis Genge has been ruled out of the match due to a sprained wrist sustained during a recent victory over Sale Sharks. Head coach Pat Lam expects Genge to be sidelined for two to three weeks. Additionally, Max Lahiff is unavailable due to a foot injury, leaving the Bears without both regular starting looseheads.

Northampton Saints, the reigning champions, have announced two changes to their lineup for the trip to Ashton Gate. Tommy Freeman will move from the wing to fullback, allowing Ollie Sleightholme to start on the wing. The Saints' tight five remains unchanged, while Josh Taylor will make his first Premiership start. The match follows a previous encounter in May where Northampton defeated Bristol 94-33.
