Bristol International Balloon Fiesta draws crowds in August 2026

The Bristol International Balloon Fiesta returns to Ashton Court Estate from 7‑9 August 2026, featuring more than 120 hot‑air balloons, including over 20 special‑shaped balloons such as Astro the Alien, Slick the Dragon and a 120‑foot Smiley Scarecrow from the United States. The three‑day programme includes daily mass ascents at 6 am and 6 pm, live music, food and drink, and two nightly "Night Glow" displays at 9 pm where illuminated balloons float over the arena.

The Met Office forecasts mostly dry weather with a 5 % chance of rain on Friday and Saturday and a slightly higher chance on Sunday, while temperatures are expected to reach 27 °C on Saturday. Night Glow tickets have sold out, but general admission visitors can still view the glowing balloons from outside the arena. The event is supported by partners including Albert Goodman and Aardman Animations, whose Wallace & Gromit balloon raises funds for Bristol Children’s Hospital.
