Bristol men jailed for failed cryptocurrency home invasion

Three men have been sentenced to prison terms of up to six years following an aggravated burglary in Bristol, England, aimed at stealing cryptocurrency. Terroll Paul, 31, Mohamed Samagassi, 37, and Pierre Madzou, 30, forced their way into a victim's home in the early hours of May 15 and assaulted him during the attempt.

The victim sustained a head injury requiring hospital treatment after being struck during the incident. The perpetrators were arrested at the scene after the victim's teenage sister alerted the police. Following guilty pleas in August, the men were sentenced at Bristol Crown Court, with Paul receiving six years, Madzou five and a half years, and Samagassi five years.

Authorities noted that this incident is part of a rising trend of “wrench attacks” in the United Kingdom, where criminals use physical violence or threats to coerce cryptocurrency holders into transferring digital assets. The victim stated in court that the assault has left him feeling “tense and apprehensive.”
