Bristol Rovers cope with injuries and mixed pre‑season results

Bristol Rovers continued their pre‑season schedule ahead of the 2026/27 campaign with a 2‑2 draw against Forest Green Rovers. Tommy Leigh came off the bench to score both goals, including a last‑minute equaliser, while the team made 11 changes at halftime. Assistant manager Paul Raynor criticised the early performance, noting that fringe players had not met expectations and that the club is still seeking midfield reinforcements.

Injury updates were also provided. Striker Ellis Harrison left the match against Forest Green with a rib knock, described by Raynor as “just bruising and a nasty bang”. Mid‑fielders Jack Sparkes and Mees Rijks remain sidelined but are nearing a full‑training return, with the coaching staff unwilling to rush them back before the season starts. The club announced an exhibition match at the Memorial Stadium on 25 July.
