Britain to legalize plug-in solar kits on August 27

Plug-in solar kits are set to become legal in Britain on August 27 following regulatory changes. These kits offer an alternative to traditional rooftop installations, making solar energy accessible to renters, flat-dwellers, and households with unsuitable roofs.

UKSOL has become the first company to have its plug-in products listed as compliant in the Energy Networks Association's Connect Direct database. The company is launching two ground-mount kits: a single-panel 460W model priced at £849 and a two-panel 890W model priced at £1,199, both including VAT and delivery. These systems feature foldable ground-mounting frames, ballast trays for stability, and microinverters, with monitoring capabilities via a smartphone app.

While some experts noted that initial costs may be higher than the £400 previously anticipated, retailers including Argos and City Plumbers have confirmed availability for delivery starting August 27. Other major retailers have expressed interest in carrying the products as the market develops.
