Kelowna launches aerospace and drone innovation hub
Kelowna is establishing a new hub for aerospace and drone innovation through a series of strategic partnerships. The City of Kelowna, Kelowna International Airport (YLW), Okanagan College, and FireSwarm Solutions have entered into agreements to advance AI-enabled drone technology.
FireSwarm Solutions, a Canadian aerospace and defence startup, specializes in autonomous drone swarm technology. The innovation is specifically aimed at enhancing wildfire suppression and emergency response capabilities, addressing the critical need for wildfire resilience in the Okanagan region following years of devastating fires.
The initiative aims to foster economic growth, support high-quality job creation, and showcase how emergency response technologies can serve both civilian and dual-use needs.
