British 9‑year‑old rescued on Lucca city walls by Italian police
A nine‑year‑old British child on holiday in Lucca, Italy, became separated from his parents while walking near the historic city walls. Several local citizens noticed the child, took temporary custody of him and handed him to a patrol of the Polizia Locale di Lucca.
Police officers kept the child safe, offered a snack and a drink, and engaged him with a traditional helmet and a traffic‑sign marker while the emergency centre activated a search via the 112 number. The operation contacted nearby hotels and bike‑rental points, quickly locating the parents. A Carabinieri patrol escorted the family to the police command, where they were reunited. The child received a souvenir and a family photo was taken, with the family thanking the officers for their swift and efficient response.
