British actor Tom Chadbon dies at 80

British actor Tom Chadbon died at the age of 80 after a brief illness, his death confirmed by the event‑management company Fantom Events. Chadbon, born in Luton, had a career spanning nearly five decades and appeared in numerous well‑known British television series and films.

His most memorable roles included the private detective Duggan in the 1979 "Doctor Who" episode "City of Death", a part in the James Bond film "Casino Royale" (2006), and a brief appearance as High Septon Maynard in the final episode of the seventh season of "Game of Thrones" (2017). He also featured in series such as "Peep Show", "The Bill", "Midsomer Murders", "Where the Heart Is" and "Casualty".
