British Airways announces major cabin and lounge upgrades

British Airways has announced a major multi-billion-pound investment to overhaul its customer experience, focusing on both aircraft interiors and airport lounge facilities.

The airline is transforming its Airbus A380 fleet with new cabin designs across Club World, World Traveller Plus, and World Traveller classes. This project involves installing over 35,000 new components per aircraft, including updated seats, in-flight entertainment screens, new amenity kits, and redesigned bedding. CEO Sean Doyle stated the airline has “completely reimagined the customer experience” to deliver greater comfort.

Simultaneously, British Airways is executing a large-scale lounge transformation at Heathrow Airport. Key developments include a new lounge at Terminal 5 C Gates featuring a 17-metre bar and an exclusive Concorde lounge, as well as a redeveloped Terminal 5 Arrivals lounge. In partnership with American Airlines, the airline will also introduce a premium First check-in experience at Terminal 3 to create a more seamless journey for high-end passengers.
