British Airways to refurbish Airbus A380 fleet with new cabins
British Airways has announced a comprehensive refurbishment of its fleet of twelve Airbus A380 aircraft. The project involves installing over 35,000 new parts per plane, including redesigned seats, entertainment systems, galleys, and staircases.
The upper deck will feature a Club World business class cabin containing 106 Club Suites, which the airline describes as the world’s largest business-class cabin. The First class section will introduce new suites with 1.52-metre high walls, doors for privacy, and integrated minibars. The lower deck will house 215 World Traveller seats in an updated economy configuration.
CEO Sean Doyle characterized the refurbished jets as flagship aircraft akin to “luxury hotels in the sky.” In addition to the aircraft upgrades, the airline plans to build new Club World and Concorde Room lounges at Heathrow Terminal 5, with completions expected by 2028.
