British Columbia 2026 Walk for Alzheimer’s Raises Funds Across Multiple Communities
On May 31, 2026 the Alzheimer Society of British Columbia and Yukon will hold its largest annual fundraiser, the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s, in communities across the province, including Chilliwack, Kelowna, Kamloops, Penticton, Vernon and Nelson. More than 2,000 participants are expected to walk a two‑kilometre accessible route at venues such as the Landing Sports Centre in Chilliwack, with sponsorship from IG Wealth Management and Go Auto.
Local volunteers and honourees are leading the effort. In Chilliwack, longtime caregivers Ron and Deb Angell, who have organized the walk for nearly two decades, will be honoured for their service. In Vernon, 12th‑grader Ellie Cucheran serves as walk chairperson, while Kelowna recognises Bill and Wanda Grevatt, whose recent diagnosis prompted community outreach. All walks aim to fund in‑person and virtual programs, support groups, educational resources and dementia research for the more than 85,000 British Columbians living with dementia.
The event offers pet‑friendly, free‑parking options and route marshals to assist walkers of any pace, emphasizing community solidarity and awareness for Alzheimer’s disease.
