British Columbia air quality warnings issued for wildfire smoke
Environment Canada has issued yellow-coded air quality warnings across several regions in British Columbia due to lingering wildfire smoke.
As of August 25, 2026, the affected areas include the entirety of the Eastern Fraser Valley from Abbotsford to Hope, the South Okanagan from Penticton to Osoyoos, and Highway 3 from Hope to Osoyoos. The warning also extends along the Coquihalla Highway from Hope to Kamloops, as well as Ashcroft and areas west of the Cariboo reaching Anahim Lake.
Other locations previously or currently under warnings include Merritt, Boston Bar, Lytton, Kamloops, Yale, Manning Park, Clinton, 70 Mile House, 108 Mile House, Chase, Salmon Arm, Vernon, Oyama, and Summerland. Notably, Kelowna, West Kelowna, and Princeton are not currently under any weather warnings. Residents in affected areas are advised to monitor symptoms and take precautions to reduce smoke exposure.
