British Columbia communities launch Purple Light Nights campaign
Several communities in British Columbia are launching the annual Purple Light Nights campaign throughout October to recognize Intimate Partner Violence Awareness Month. The initiative encourages residents and businesses to display purple lights to show unity and support for survivors while raising awareness of domestic violence.
In Chilliwack and Hope, ceremonies are scheduled for early October to mark the start of the campaign. The Chilliwack RCMP will host a ceremony on October 1, while Hope will hold a gathering at Memorial Park.
In Abbotsford and Mission, the 15th annual campaign includes a variety of community events. Activities range from a launch at the Abbotsford Farm and Country Market to yoga sessions, rugby tournaments featuring special jerseys, and community walks. The campaign aims to bring intimate partner violence out of the shadows and into public awareness.
