British Columbia community events raise funds for firefighters

Various community initiatives in British Columbia are raising funds for local fire departments and burn survivor support.

The B.C. Professional Firefighters Burn Fund has secured a three-year partnership with Noel Surrey, ensuring that the Bright Nights holiday event will be hosted at the Cloverdale Fairgrounds through the 2028 Christmas season. Bright Nights serves as the Burn Fund’s largest annual fundraiser, utilizing light displays and seasonal festivities to support burn survivors.

In Sunshine Valley, the local Volunteer Fire Department is benefiting from an annual Halloween haunted house attraction at the Sunshine Valley RV Resort. Spearheaded by Brian Taylor, the donation-based event has contributed approximately $7,000 to the department to date, supporting various community efforts including local food bank drives.
