British Columbia community fundraisers raise funds for health services
Two separate community fundraising events in British Columbia have raised significant funds for health-related causes.
In Abbotsford, the BeMorr Society’s fifth annual Hawaiian Shirt Gala raised over $63,000. The proceeds will support the organization’s Mental Wellness Program, which provides counselling and mental health services to individuals and families, specifically aiming to remove financial barriers to care. The society was established by the family of Brook Morrison to honor his memory.
In Duncan, the Dream Nation Apparel Vancouver Island 24 Hour running event raised a record $3,517.48 for the Victoria Hospitals Foundation. During the event, participant Mira Byron set a distance record by covering 202.8 kilometres and raised nearly half of the total funds. The event supports local hospital care, a cause motivated by the personal medical experiences of the race directors.
