British Columbia community fundraisers raise significant funds for charity

Various charitable events in British Columbia have raised significant funds for social and medical causes. In Surrey, Paul and Sharan Narang are preparing for their 17th annual fundraiser for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), also known as Breakthrough T1D. The couple, who own Smart Wireless/Bell Mobility locations in the Fraser Valley, have raised nearly $700,000 for the organization over the years. The upcoming event is scheduled for October 24 at the Westfield Country Club.

In Kelowna, the East Meets West Children’s Foundation (EMWCF) raised $180,000 during its annual Diwali Dinner and Dance held at the Parkinson Recreation Centre. A 15-minute donation blitz contributed $142,000 to the total. The foundation uses these funds to support underprivileged children both in the Okanagan region and internationally, including initiatives such as cleft palate surgeries in Guatemala and medical support in India.
