British Columbia develops new road safety strategy through 2030
The Province of British Columbia is currently developing a new road safety strategy intended to guide safety initiatives through 2030. The final strategy is scheduled for publication in late 2026.
The Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM) has announced that local government representatives have been invited to participate in virtual engagement sessions, with written feedback accepted until August 31, 2026. While local governments are actively involved in the process, there is currently uncertainty regarding whether individual road users—such as drivers, pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists—will have a direct mechanism to provide input to the provincial government.
