British Columbia festivals see record crowds, call for volunteers

The fourth Globe Fest in Langley City attracted an estimated 2,100 visitors, the highest attendance in its four‑year history. Organized by Local Immigration Partnership youth advisor Antonio Hakko, the diversity‑focused event featured music, art, food vendors and partnered with a Pokémon Go celebration at Douglas Park.

Meanwhile, the Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows Country Fest, marking its 125th anniversary, is seeking 100‑150 volunteers to support the July 24‑26 fair at the Albion Fairgrounds. Fair manager Graham Vanstone highlighted a volunteer shortage that began after the COVID‑19 pandemic ended a partnership with a local correctional facility. The three‑day event will include 4H clubs, live entertainment, a food‑truck festival, lumberjack shows and other activities.
