British Columbia manages multiple lightning-caused wildfires

Multiple lightning-caused wildfires have broken out across British Columbia following thunderstorms. In the Central Okanagan, crews are managing three separate blazes. The Lacoma Creek wildfire near Highway 97C is now considered held, and a second fire in the North Missezula Lake region is under control. However, the Davies Lake blaze remains out of control at 1.1 hectares. These incidents are occurring near the Bald Range wildfire, which has grown to 25,021 hectares.

In the Lac La Hache area, a family successfully extinguished a lightning-sparked fire on Emerald Island using hand tools and water buckets before notifying local volunteer fire services. The BC Wildfire Service continues to monitor the situation, noting that extremely dry environmental conditions are contributing to the risk of fire spread.
