British Columbia municipal travel advisories: SkyTrain construction detours and park safety tips
The Surrey‑Langley SkyTrain extension will cause a series of traffic diversions in Langley during August and September 2026. Drivers will face a no‑left‑turn restriction on Fraser Highway at Production Way from Aug. 7‑14, a midday closure at Fraser Highway and 200A Street on Aug. 11, a night‑time shutdown at Fraser Highway and 201A Street on Sept. 15, and a morning‑to‑evening blockage north of 68 Avenue on Aug. 24. Additional turn restrictions on Fraser Highway to Highway 10 and to Landmark Way are set to be lifted after July 31, while one‑way eastbound traffic on Industrial Avenue will remain through 2027.
The City of Maple Ridge has issued safety and parking guidance for the upcoming long weekend. Residents are urged to use designated parking, consider car‑pooling or transit, and respect fire bans that prohibit campfires and open‑flame BBQs in parks. Park staff will enforce bylaws, and visitors should keep pets leashed, clean up litter, and wear life jackets when boating. The city also offers an online alert system for parking lot capacity at popular sites such as Whonnock Lake.
