British Columbia RCMP reports multiple traffic incidents, including serious motorcycle collision
An off‑duty Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) officer was hospitalized in serious condition after his Harley‑Davidson motorcycle collided with a Chevrolet Silverado near Cranbrook, British Columbia, on August 5. The driver of the pickup truck, a 28‑year‑old woman, was unharmed. BC Highway Patrol is conducting an independent investigation and has asked the public for dash‑camera footage and eyewitness accounts.
During a ten‑day period in July, Nanaimo RCMP responded to 1,391 service calls, which included several drug‑impairment stops, a driver arrested for cannabis and alcohol use, a single‑vehicle rollover, and a crash between two motorcycles at the Nanaimo Parkway and Island Highway North intersection on July 29. Both motorcyclists received medical treatment at the scene and were later taken to hospital.
