British Columbia RCMP seize assets and arrest gun offender in recent operations

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in British Columbia have made two high‑profile law‑enforcement actions. In Penticton, Samuel Prescott‑Perrault was arrested on July 15 after a traffic stop uncovered a handgun. Prescott‑Perrault had previously received a time‑served sentence on May 12, 2026 for multiple firearm offences and was serving a two‑year probation with a lifetime weapons prohibition. He faces new charges of unlawful firearm possession, resisting a peace officer and breaching probation, with a court appearance set for July 30 in Kelowna.

In a separate case, RCMP officers from the Mission detachment seized a 2011 Kia Soul, cash, a rifle scope and a quantity of fentanyl after a traffic stop in Maple Ridge. The seizure followed an earlier investigation of a known offender linked to violent crime and the drug trade. The assets were turned over to British Columbia’s Civil Forfeiture Office for forfeiture.

Both incidents were highlighted by RCMP officials as examples of proactive policing aimed at removing prohibited weapons and drug‑related contraband from the community.
