British Columbia wildfire relief receives major funding boosts

Multiple organizations have contributed significant funding to the Canadian Red Cross 2026 British Columbia Wildfires Appeal to assist those impacted by ongoing wildfires in the province.

Walmart Canada and the Walmart Foundation have committed US$250,000 to the appeal. In addition to the financial donation, Walmart associates have provided evacuees with essential supplies, including drinking water, snacks, and personal care items.

The BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) reported that its fundraising campaign through BCLiquor and BC Cannabis Store locations raised nearly $1.4 million. This total includes $726,711 in customer donations and $672,725 in matching funds provided by the Government of Canada. These funds are intended to support emergency response, recovery, and resilience efforts for individuals and communities affected by the summer's devastating wildfire events.
