British Council invites Mexico to join global online reading record attempt
The British Council and the UK’s National Literacy Trust have invited the community in Mexico to participate in a global reading event on October 8. The initiative aims to establish a new Guinness World Record for the largest number of people reading together online during a 12-hour period via Zoom.
Participants, including children, youth, and adults, can join individually or in groups from schools, libraries, or workplaces. Each participant must read for a minimum of 10 minutes using their choice of physical or digital material in any language. While the live sessions will be conducted in English, Zoom’s automatic Spanish subtitles will be available.
To participate, individuals must register through the official event website and select a session based on age groups: 5–8 years, 8–12 years, 12–16 years, and those over 16. After registering, participants must complete a specific participation form during the live broadcast to validate their contribution for the record attempt.
