Spanish villa tragedy: British couple found dead in jacuzzi
British-based couple Patrick Tobin, 48, and Thomasina Tobin, 51, have died following a tragedy at a luxury villa in Cullera, Spain. The couple, who were on a family holiday, were discovered by their two teenage sons in the jacuzzi of Villa Luna, located within the Colina del Sol complex.
Investigators are focusing on a rare phenomenon known as ‘suction entrapment,’ where the powerful suction of a pool or jacuzzi drainage system can trap a person’s body, hair, or clothing underwater. Reports indicate that marks and scratches were found on the bodies, and blood was observed in the water. While some theories suggest one spouse may have been trapped first and the other died attempting a rescue, official causes of death are still being finalized following post-mortem examinations.
Authorities have ruled out foul play, noting no signs of forced entry or third-party involvement. An electric shock theory has also reportedly been dismissed. The family, which includes members from Ireland and New Zealand, expressed that the loss leaves an ‘immeasurable void.’
