British family sells home to travel the world
Lee Bodell and Aimee Bedford, a couple from England, have radically changed their lifestyle by selling their four-bedroom home to travel the world with their two daughters, aged 9 and 10. The decision followed a period of reflection during the pandemic, during which Bodell, a former heavy goods vehicle driver working up to 50 hours a week, reevaluated his priorities regarding family time.
The family sold their property in July for £330,000 (approximately €390,000), leaving them with roughly £140,000 (€165,000) in equity to fund their journey. Their travels began in September, utilizing first-class train passes to visit various European countries, including France, the Netherlands, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, and Italy. Their long-term goal is to reach Asia.
To sustain their lifestyle, Bodell manages an online business selling solar panels for campers and mobile homes via eBay and a personal website. This venture requires approximately 10 hours of work per week and generates an estimated weekly income of between £500 and £1,000 (€590–€1,180).
