British family saves over £15,000 annually after moving to Chiang Mai
A British family from Tunbridge Wells has reported saving more than £15,000 per year after relocating to Chiang Mai, Thailand. The move, which took place in July, was prompted by a teaching position secured by Ben, the partner of Saskia Dalyanci.
Monthly household expenses for the family of five reportedly dropped from nearly £2,000 to approximately £735. Significant savings were achieved through lower costs for housing, food, and utilities. In Kent, the family paid roughly £1,000 per month for a three-bedroom rental, whereas in Chiang Mai, the same accommodation costs approximately £543 per month.
The family lives on a single teacher's salary, with Ben earning approximately 683,442 Baht annually. To facilitate the transition, the couple sold their belongings via marketplaces and flea markets. They have adopted a frugal lifestyle, focusing on local costs to maintain their savings.
