British Fashion Council chair David Pemsel to step down

David Pemsel will step down as chair of the British Fashion Council (BFC) on September 30, concluding a decade-long tenure on the executive board and four years as chair. The organization, which oversees London Fashion Week and the Fashion Awards, has already initiated a search for his successor, with a formal announcement expected in September.

During his leadership, the BFC achieved record in-year revenue of £14 million for the 2024-25 fiscal year and raised £7.2 million through the BFC Foundation. Pemsel also secured multi-year, multi-million-pound investment from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport.

Additionally, Pemsel oversaw the appointment of CEO Laura Weir and the approval of the ‘BFC 2030: Access, Creativity, Growth’ strategy. This four-year plan aims to increase the BFC’s gross annual revenue by 38 percent to £18 million by 2030.
