British Forces Police report 34 arrests and ongoing arson investigation
The British Forces Police (BFP) reported 34 arrests over the past week involving various offenses, including eight cases of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Authorities are also investigating four drug-related cases, three of which involved suspected quantities of cocaine. In road safety operations, 30 campaigns were conducted across the BFP area, resulting in 63 traffic fines and 25 breathalyzer tests.
In Dhekelia, a joint search and rescue operation involving the BFP, the Search and Rescue Coordination Centre, and the Cyprus Police successfully rescued two men, aged 25 and 37, approximately 1.5 nautical miles from the coast. Following recent drowning incidents in Cyprus, Assistant Police Director Melina Papagregoriou issued a warning for citizens to remain vigilant regarding changing sea conditions.
Additionally, an investigation is underway in the Akrotiri area following a suspected arson incident involving a vehicle fire on Sunday morning.
