British girl, 12, found safe in Japan after disappearing to visit anime sites

A 12-year-old British girl, Carmelita Lakdesha Paul, has been found safe in Yokohama after disappearing during a family trip to Japan. She was located at a police box on Saturday evening, approximately 59 hours after leaving her family's accommodation in the Minami-Kamata district of Tokyo.

According to authorities, the girl left her lodging without her passport or mobile phone, carrying only a small amount of money. Security footage tracked her journey from Tokyo to Yokohama Station. The girl reportedly told police that she had been visiting locations associated with anime and had spent time in an internet cafe.

Japanese police stated there were no indications of criminal involvement. After expressing that she missed her parents, the girl sought assistance from the police and was subsequently reunited with her family.
