British Girls Raise £1,100 for Romanian Orphans' Summer Day Out

Two friends from Okehampton, England – eight‑year‑old Bella Jackson and nine‑year‑old Bella Willcocks – exceeded their fundraising target, raising almost £1,200 for a special summer day out for children at an orphanage in Lipova, Romania. The original goal of £250 would have covered the trip, but the extra funds will also pay for additional crafts, games and activities during the week‑long holiday camp and support the children when they return to school in autumn.

The girls and their families are scheduled to travel to Romania on 1 August. Their father, Matthew Jackson, said the children “worked incredibly hard… batch after batch of homemade fudge, an online store full of items they designed themselves, and the Okehampton parkrun tackled in full fancy dress.” The fundraiser is organized through Bunatate, a Christian charity that has operated for 12 years to relieve poverty and support orphanages in Romania and Moldova.
