British Guiana One-Cent Magenta stamp exhibited in Prague

The world's most valuable postage stamp, the 1856 British Guiana One-Cent Magenta, is being exhibited at the Municipal House (Obecní dům) in Prague as part of the Treasures of World Philately III exhibition. The unique magenta-colored stamp, valued at approximately 250 million CZK, was originally created as a temporary postal solution in British Guiana.

Other rare philatelic items are featured in the exhibition, including the famous 1918 American 'Inverted Jenny' stamp, which is valued at roughly 45 million CZK. The total value of the items on display is estimated to be nearly one billion CZK. Tomáš Mádl, president of the Prestige Philately Club Prague, described the event as the largest philatelic occurrence in the history of the Czech Republic.
