British High Commissioner named Patron of Malawi–UK Chamber of Commerce

The British High Commissioner to Malawi, Leigh Stubblefield, has been appointed as the Patron of the Malawi–UK Chamber of Commerce (MUKCC). The announcement was made during a meeting in Lilongwe involving business leaders, financial institutions, and prospective founding members.

The MUKCC is an independent, member-led organization supported by both the Malawian and UK governments. It is preparing to open a permanent office in Malawi to facilitate trade, networking, and investment opportunities between the two nations. MUKCC Chief Executive Officer Hannington Gondwe stated that the chamber aims to create practical opportunities for businesses to build partnerships and expand commercial activities.

While welcoming the initiative, Ronald Ngwira, President of the Malawi Confederation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (MCCCI), urged the new chamber to complement existing private sector organizations and avoid duplicating their roles.
