British Influencer Brooke George Charged with Murder in Dubai

British social‑media influencer Brooke George, 23, remains in custody in Dubai after being charged with murder in the fatal stabbing of her boyfriend, William Treeby, 26, at an apartment in the Gulf city. If convicted, George faces the possibility of execution by firing squad under United Arab Emirates law. She claims she acted in self‑defence after being attacked.

Campaign group Detained in Dubai has submitted what it calls relevant intelligence to UK and UAE authorities, urging a thorough forensic review. The group says mobile‑phone data and calls made to contacts in Britain shortly after the incident could help establish a timeline and identify additional witnesses. Radha Stirling, chief executive of Detained in Dubai, said the organisation had filed information with the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, the UAE authorities and the UAE ambassador to the UK, adding: "Given the gravity of the proceedings and the potential consequences Brooke George faces, we believe it is imperative that every appropriate avenue is explored to ensure that all relevant information is properly considered."

Treeby was due to stand trial in Maidstone Crown Court for an alleged conspiracy to supply cocaine and had prior convictions for unlawful wounding and common assault. Five people – George, Treeby, a maid and two of Treeby’s friends – were present in the apartment on the night of the stabbing.
