British influencer undergoes emergency surgery after sepsis from ingrown hair

Christy Collins, a 28-year-old content creator from Bournemouth, was rushed into emergency surgery after an infected ingrown hair developed into sepsis. The infection reportedly began after she shaved her bikini line and wore shorts during a hot day in London.

Collins initially believed she had a simple boil, but after attempting to squeeze the lump, it rapidly expanded into a massive sac cyst. Her condition deteriorated quickly, leading to blurred vision, dizziness, and collapse. Doctors performed a one-hour operation to remove the infected tissue and warned that a delay in seeking treatment could have been life-threatening.

Following a five-day hospital stay, Collins is recovering at home with assistance. She has used her platform to warn others against squeezing ingrown hairs or ignoring signs of infection.
